I think its a GeForce problem. It only happens with my GeForce 256 GTS. My older GeForce 256 works fine, and this card uses allot more current than the GTS When switching on from cold at the mains switch it will not POST, no video comes up, and the drive led remains illuminated, usually a press of the reset

Need advice on purchasing GeForce 2 MX card
If you're so inclined, you can use a 64-bit OS and you'll have no problems with 4 GB or more RAM. The more memory on the video card the better. The best is probably the nVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra with 768 MB of RAM. However, the 9 series is expected to be released later this month. There's a lot of speculation about

Boot problem and Abit lack of support
The older GeForce DDR is faster, although a bit more expensive than the MX card. Other than that, a GeForce 2 64 MB GTS card will last a long time (and cost a whole lot more). I was worried about upgrading from a TNT2 Ultra, but I've used my GeForce DDR card for a long time now and have no plans to upgrade it

AGP X4 vs X8
These Dimensions have no AGP slots, so the cards are the PCI models. Without the cards in place, both machines run fine. With the card in place, both machines run through the POST, start to load What puzzles me is that one machine (the L1000R) was working just fine with a slightly older GEForce card in place.

No thanks. Stick with nvidia. I only want to spend around $50 on the card, so GeForce 8500 seems to fit the bill. If there is a convincing argument for ATI in the same price range, I'd listen. Either way, it MUST do HD. No, I'd second that 8500. Go with your gut. I also have questions about the power supply.

I wish I could return the card and downgrade it for an older geforce, or another manufacturer altogether. Your video card has to be able to handle 89MHz (2/3rd divider), and most older GeForce cards can do that. Only the most recent Nvidia and ATI products are having The 4in1 drivers fix many of the boards that had problems, but there are no guarantees. There are boards where no amount of hacking made them stable.
